Welcome back again! I am continuously sharing my personal experience on the France tour. Today’s blog will be about Normandy city. So when I was searching for this city the most common question was, What is Normandy famous for historically?. Let’s start exploring Normandy.
It is that splendid feeling of looking forward to a place you have seen only in photos or heard of in stories that you feel a little shiver down your spine. That was me, sitting in a train watching France through its window, heading towards Normandy.
All my life, I have always been interested in the question: What to see in Normandy?, but I never thought that I would love it that much. There was a great history, beautiful geography and nice people, and it all felt like living in a fairytale story book.
And just like that, the railways reached the town, and with them came the views it was famous for – a patchwork cover of green and yellow fields with occasional little stone houses. I hadn’t even stepped into the city and I knew Normandy was going to be unique.

As I basked in the warm sun in the beaches on which the Allied forces had created history, it was hard not to feel reverence. About 3.5 million inhabitants lived in Normandy cities by population.
The beaches of the Normandy space, especially Omaha and Utah, are more than mere vacation spots—they are also memorials which have been preserved for generations so that the bravery and uphold the bulldog courage of all who fought can never go unnoticed. There are many places in Normandy France that directly indicate the glorious history.I had one of the best experiences while on this trip, it was the visit to the Abbaye aux Hommes in Caen which is the burial place of William. Also the area is rich in Viking heritages because the very word Normandy is derived from the name of the Norsemen who migrated to this area. In what may be called damage control, an ideal future dangerously tempted me and encouraged me to make it to the Bayeux Tapestry, and it didn’t disappoint at all. This almost 70 meter long piece of cloth depicts the events that surrounded the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, and to witness that in person is an experience I cherish.
Like most of the PPC markets, if you are thinking about Normandy cities by population statistics, Rouen is the biggest one continuing the race with few more towns like Caen, Le Havre etc, all having its own characteristics.
The most modern-futuristic town in Normandy is Le Havre which has been recognized as a World heritage site by UNESCO whereas Caen presents mixtures of medieval architecture and modern city state fashion. So you can explore Normandy tourist attractions in ease.
Hidden Gems and Local Culture
One of the things that fascinated me about fatigue being probably the rising point of Normandy was the tranquility of the place. Whatever corner of the place I walked into there was always a local as well as a few who would seem delighted to narrate their history and culture to outsiders.
One of the most vivid memories from the whole trip was one interaction that I had in a nice café located in the town of Honfleur, a lovely port village. I only got a coffee and a croissant and the old lady who was the café manager started talking about life in Honfleur itself. She talked a lot about why the town had inspired so many artists, Monet and Boudin to name a few, and suggested several galleries to which I should make a visit.

One of the best dinners I had was at La Corderie, a reputed small restaurant in Barfleur, which is one of the best restaurants in Normandy, relatively lesser known in the coastal region of Normandy.
